Our StoryBy Ross Dauterive, Inventor of The Therapy Victory Chair (TVChair)
When Ben was perhaps 3 or 4, we had the opportunity for him to ride a handicap tricycle (trike). I realized then that the Trike would benefit Ben if he had the strength to use it.
We tried different modes of therapy to increase his strength, though nothing seemed to enable him to manipulate or master the Trike. The uplifting story tells the tale.
I designed three TVChair’s - one for Ben and two for other children with similar needs. I submitted my patent around 2004, and had it approved in 2008.
The TVChair increased Ben's strength dramatically so that he is now able to ride his Trike.
One of the most functional benefits of the TVChair is that Ben can stand while gripping a bar in the bathroom, or for improving his strength to stand when I change his clothes.
Here's a video of the first TVChairs made, and the young men who have used and benefitted from them.
